A person whose name is for the time being on the register of general building contractors maintained by the Building Authority under section 8A of the Buildings Ordinance (Cap 123). Those named must be qualified to perform the duties of a general building contractor, which in this context means satisfying the Building Authority on matters such as the adequacy of the company's management structure; the appropriate experience and qualifications of its personnel; its ability to have access to plant and resources; and the ability for the purposes of the Buildings Ordinance to understand building works and street works through relevant experience and a general knowledge of the basic Hong Kong statutory requirements. |
