GLOSSARY TERM
  Partnering (HK)

  DESCRIPTION
Non-Contractual Partnering involves a client and a third party (i.e., contractors, sub-contractors, consultants, etc.) formulating and committing to a partnering charter that governs the relationship between the parties. The charter itself sits outside the construction contract, and describes the mutual goals and objectives of the project participants for the project.

A partnering process normally involves an initial workshop to develop the partnering charter and a dialogue framework, one or more interim workshops throughout the construction of the project, and a final workshop to evaluate the implementation of the partnering objectives. Studies in Hong Kong show that the benefits of partnering include improved relationships and communications between project participants, better productivity, and reduced adversarial behaviour.
