Legislation that came into force on 1 August 2008 in Hong Kong and the Mainland that allows certain judgments by Hong Kong and Mainland courts to be reciprocally enforced in either jurisdiction. The law only applies to final judgments involving commercial contracts and only if the parties to the contract have designated either the courts of Hong Kong or of the Mainland as having exclusive jurisdiction over their disputes. The legislation does not apply to agreements entered into before 1 August 2008.
