Following an unsuccessful attempt in 1994 to rewrite the Standard Form of Building Contract for non-Government projects in Hong Kong, a joint contracts committee subsequently worked on the task. Two standard forms were published in 2005, one for general building contracts (Standard Form of Building Contract, Private Edition – With Quantities) and one for nominated sub-contracts (Standard Form of Building Contract for Nominated Sub-Contracts). Commentators have suggested that these new forms of building contract achieve a more equitable allocation of risk between employers and contractors than their predecessors. |
