GLOSSARY TERM
Dispute Review Board (DRB) and Dispute Adjudication Board (DAB)

  DESCRIPTION
These boards have been promoted internationally as a cost-effective means of resolving disputes. A board or panel is established, either at the beginning of a project (a 'full term' board) or when a dispute arises (an 'ad hoc' board) to hear and adjudicate disputes, rather than initiating litigation or arbitration. DRB/DAB decisions usually have an interim binding effect.

DRBs have been used successfully in Hong Kong, including in the development of the Hong Kong International Airport, where an adjudication regime formed part of the dispute resolution process.
