  DESCRIPTION  
  This stands for China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission. Established in 1954 as the Foreign Trade Arbitration Commission, it was renamed CIETAC in 1989. It currently operates under the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). Arbitration in China is currently governed by the Arbitration Law of the PRC (1994), whilst arbitration under CIETAC is governed by the CIETAC Rules ('Rules'), which are in turn based on the PRC's arbitration law.
