  DESCRIPTION  
  The head of Hong Kong Government and the principal representative of Hong Kong. The position was created to replace the Governor of Hong Kong, who was the head of Hong Kong Government during British administration of the then colony. The office, stipulated by the Basic Law, formally came into being on 1 July 1997 following Reunification. As at 2008 the chief executive was Sir Donald Tsang.
